Responsibilities
- Perform complex calculations for retirement benefits, including service credits, disability pensions, and survivor benefits.
- Analyze and resolve pension inquiries from retirees, employees, and employers with high accuracy and sensitivity.
- Ensure strict compliance with Florida Statutes, FRS rules, and ERISA regulations regarding pension administration.
- Prepare and review detailed reports regarding pension fund status, actuarial valuations, and budget projections.
- Collaborate with the Actuarial Department and HR teams to interpret policy changes and implement new benefit programs.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity within the FRS core systems.
- Provide training and guidance to junior staff members regarding pension processing procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or a related field required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Pension Actuary (CPA) designation, or Master of Public Administration (MPA) is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in public sector pension administration, actuarial services, or benefits management.
- Deep understanding of retirement plan structures, vesting schedules, and regulatory requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP), and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, PeopleSoft).
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and regulatory text.
- Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex financial concepts to non-technical audiences.
