Your Role
In this position, you will be responsible for the accurate calculation and processing of pension benefits, ensuring compliance with state regulations and member contracts. You will handle complex data analysis and provide exceptional support to members during evening hours.
Responsibilities
- Analyze complex pension calculations and benefit requests to ensure accuracy and compliance with OPERS bylaws and state laws.
- Process and adjudicate pension claims, service credit applications, and retirement paperwork during the night shift.
- Review member accounts for discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently to minimize service interruptions.
- Utilize data analytics tools to identify trends in pension claims and recommend process improvements.
- Provide exceptional customer service and technical support to members contacting the department during evening hours.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and data security protocols for all sensitive financial records.
- Collaborate with the day shift team to transfer knowledge and ensure continuity of operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pension administration, actuarial science, or government benefits processing.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access) and pension management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Ability to work effectively and autonomously during night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with members and stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for training if necessary.
