Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily administration of the Maryland State Pension Plan, ensuring accurate benefit calculations and timely payouts.
- Review and process retirement applications, service credit adjustments, and death benefit claims.
- Ensure full compliance with federal (ERISA) and state government regulations regarding pension plans and reporting.
- Conduct regular audits of pension records to identify discrepancies and ensure data integrity.
- Provide expert guidance and customer service to current retirees and active employees regarding retirement eligibility and payout options.
- Collaborate with the actuarial team to project funding requirements and long-term plan sustainability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or Public Administration (preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, benefits management, or actuarial science.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP required).
- Deep understanding of government retirement systems and relevant state/federal laws.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive financial data with strict confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client interactions.
