We are urgently hiring a highly skilled Senior Pension Administrator to join the District of Columbia Government's elite pension management team. This is a pivotal opportunity for a financial expert to oversee the stability and growth of the city's retirement assets while ensuring compliance with federal and local regulations.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex financial data and public service, ensuring that thousands of DC employees receive their entitled benefits with precision and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day administration of the District's defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans.
- Conduct actuarial valuations and prepare financial reports for the Board of Trustees and legislative bodies.
- Ensure strict compliance with the District of Columbia Retirement Code and applicable federal laws (e.g., ERISA).
- Lead investigations into pension discrepancies and resolve complex beneficiary claims with tact and accuracy.
- Collaborate with external actuaries, auditors, and legal counsel to maintain the integrity of the pension fund.
- Train and mentor junior staff on pension calculation methodologies and compliance protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Accounting, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in government pension administration, actuarial consulting, or benefits management.
- Professional certification (e.g., FSA, EA, FPC, or CPA) is highly desirable.
- Deep understanding of public sector retirement systems and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, capable of presenting complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
