Responsibilities
- Analyze pension fund investments, liabilities, and funding ratios using actuarial modeling tools
- Develop policy recommendations for the State Comptroller on pension system sustainability
- Conduct audits of pension plan administration and compliance with ERISA/NYS regulations
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports and disclosures for the State Legislature and public
- Collaborate with investment teams to assess risk-return profiles of pension portfolios
- Lead cross-functional initiatives on pension reform and legislative analysis
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Economics, or related field
- 5+ years of pension fund or public sector financial analysis experience
- CFA or CMA certification strongly preferred; ASA designation a plus
- Expertise in actuarial valuation models (e.g., GASB 67/68 compliance)
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and financial modeling software
- Deep understanding of NY State retirement systems and constitutional mandates
- Ability to manage complex projects with competing stakeholder priorities
