Responsibilities
- Perform complex actuarial calculations and verify eligibility for pension benefits and retirement payouts.
- Conduct thorough audits of retirement applications and member records to ensure compliance with state statutes and federal regulations.
- Analyze pension funding data and provide recommendations to senior management regarding cost-saving measures and policy adjustments.
- Act as a subject matter expert, responding to inquiries from retirees, HR professionals, and legislative staff regarding benefit calculations.
- Collaborate with the Department of Management Services to maintain the integrity of the Florida Retirement System (FRS).
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for legislative oversight committees and internal reviews.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in federal and state retirement laws to ensure continuous compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pension administration, actuarial analysis, or government benefits management.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) and experience with ERISA or state retirement systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate accurate forecasts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders and the public.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial data with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion.
