Responsibilities
- Oversee daily administration of $2.5B pension fund including investments, compliance, and reporting
- Develop and implement strategic retirement plan policies aligned with ERISA and IRS regulations
- Conduct complex actuarial valuations and financial modeling for 15+ employee retirement plans
- Lead stakeholder communications with city council, unions, and retirees on benefit structures
- Manage vendor relationships for recordkeeping, auditing, and investment advisory services
- Drive process improvements using CalPERS protocols and municipal best practices
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Finance, Public Administration, or Actuarial Science with 7+ years pension administration experience
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Society of Actuaries (SOA) designation required
- Expertise in defined benefit plans, 401(a) structures, and multi-employer compliance
- Advanced proficiency in pension software (e.g., Albridge, Millennium)
- Proven track record managing $500M+ pension portfolios
- Exceptional analytical skills with regulatory reporting experience
