Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive policy proposals aligned with San Jose's strategic goals for economic growth and social equity
- Conduct in-depth research and data analysis to inform evidence-based decision-making processes
- Collaborate with community stakeholders, advocacy groups, and industry partners to gather diverse perspectives
- Prepare detailed policy briefs, executive summaries, and presentations for city leadership and public forums
- Monitor implementation outcomes and recommend policy adjustments based on performance metrics
- Lead cross-functional task forces addressing critical issues like housing affordability and climate resilience
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning, Political Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years of policy development experience in municipal or state government
- Expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies with proficiency in data visualization tools
- Deep understanding of California's legislative framework and regulatory compliance requirements
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated success in public presentations
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects with competing deadlines
- Valid California driver's license and ability to travel to various city sites
