Responsibilities
- Research, analyze, and evaluate complex urban policy issues affecting NYC's development and sustainability
- Develop evidence-based policy recommendations aligned with the Mayor's equity and climate goals
- Collaborate with interagency teams to implement large-scale urban planning initiatives
- Prepare comprehensive reports, memos, and presentations for senior leadership and public stakeholders
- Manage data analysis projects using GIS, statistical modeling, and urban planning software
- Engage with community boards, elected officials, and advocacy groups to incorporate diverse perspectives
- Monitor emerging trends in urban policy and propose innovative solutions for NYC-specific challenges
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, Economics, or related field (PhD preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of progressive policy analysis experience in government or urban planning
- Expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and statistical analysis tools (SPSS, R)
- Deep understanding of NYC's land use regulations, zoning codes, and planning processes
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in urban planning
- Valid New York State driver's license (required for field site visits)
