Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate comprehensive urban planning policies aligned with NYC's sustainability goals
- Analyze complex demographic, economic, and environmental data to inform strategic planning decisions
- Lead stakeholder engagement sessions with community boards, elected officials, and private developers
- Prepare detailed policy briefs and legislative recommendations for City Council review
- Coordinate inter-agency initiatives on housing, transportation, and climate resilience
- Monitor implementation progress of adopted policies and recommend adjustments
- Mentor junior analysts on quantitative research methodologies
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, Economics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in municipal government or urban planning
- Advanced proficiency in GIS software and statistical analysis tools (R, Python, SAS)
- Demonstrated success in developing evidence-based policy recommendations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences
- Knowledge of NYC's Zoning Resolution and Land Use Review Process
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines
- Valid New York State driver's license required
