The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) seeks an experienced Senior Policy Analyst to drive transformative initiatives in workforce development and economic recovery. As a key member of our Policy Division, you'll collaborate with cabinet-level officials, industry leaders, and community stakeholders to develop data-driven solutions that impact millions of Minnesotans. Our hybrid work environment (3 days remote/week) combines flexibility with meaningful public service.
Responsibilities
- Research, analyze, and evaluate complex socioeconomic trends to inform state policy recommendations
- Develop comprehensive policy briefs and legislative proposals addressing workforce development challenges
- Coordinate cross-agency initiatives to streamline unemployment insurance and job training programs
- Present findings to legislative committees and executive leadership with actionable recommendations
- Manage stakeholder engagement with business coalitions, non-profits, and local government partners
- Monitor federal funding opportunities and administer grant programs for economic development projects
- Lead crisis response protocols for emerging economic disruptions
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Economics, or related field (5+ years experience may substitute)
- Minimum 3 years policy analysis experience in government or public sector
- Advanced proficiency in data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) and statistical analysis
- Demonstrated success in developing bipartisan policy frameworks
- Knowledge of Minnesota's workforce development ecosystem strongly preferred
- Exceptional written/verbal communication skills with ability to simplify complex concepts
- Valid Minnesota driver's license (state travel required)
