Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee city-wide public health initiatives targeting disease prevention and health equity
- Analyze epidemiological data to identify emerging health threats and recommend evidence-based interventions
- Manage multi-million dollar budgets for health programs ensuring compliance with federal/state regulations
- Coordinate interagency partnerships with healthcare providers, NGOs, and community organizations
- Lead crisis response teams during public health emergencies and natural disasters
- Present health policy recommendations to city council and executive leadership
- Mentor junior staff and supervise program implementation across 15 districts
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Health, Public Administration, or related field (MPH preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in public health program management
- Proven expertise in health data analysis using tools like SAS, SPSS, or R
- Deep knowledge of HIPAA, CDC guidelines, and Texas Department of State Health Services protocols
- Strong grant writing experience with federal funding sources (CDC, HRSA)
- Valid Texas driver's license and ability to travel across Houston metro area
- Certified in Public Health (CPH) or eligible within 6 months of hire
