Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of food establishments, childcare centers, and public swimming pools to ensure compliance with health regulations
- Investigate public health complaints and outbreaks with rapid response protocols
- Develop and deliver educational programs to promote health and safety standards among local businesses
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and legal documentation for regulatory enforcement actions
- Collaborate with cross-agency teams during public health emergencies and disaster response
- Maintain accurate digital records in our health surveillance system
- Represent the department at community outreach events and stakeholder meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental health regulation or public health enforcement
- Certified Registered Environmental Health Specialist (CREHS) credential required
- Proficiency with digital inspection tools and health data management systems
- Demonstrated ability to conduct complex regulatory investigations and legal documentation
- Strong crisis communication skills with diverse community stakeholders
- Valid Washington State driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends for emergency response
