Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and complaint-driven inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public pools
- Investigate public health complaints and enforce local health ordinances
- Develop and deliver educational programs for food handlers and business owners
- Maintain detailed inspection reports and regulatory documentation
- Collaborate with county officials on public health emergency preparedness
- Stay current with state health codes and federal regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in health inspections or regulatory compliance
- Texas Department of State Health Services Inspector certification
- Strong knowledge of FDA Food Code and HACCP principles
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Valid Texas driver's license and reliable transportation
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
