Responsibilities
- Lead complex disease outbreak investigations and epidemiological surveillance activities
- Conduct in-depth interviews with patients, families, and healthcare providers
- Analyze health data to identify patterns and develop intervention strategies
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during public health emergencies
- Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for policy implementation
- Train junior staff on investigation protocols and data collection methods
- Collaborate with federal agencies (CDC, FDA) on cross-jurisdictional cases
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in field epidemiology or public health investigations
- Certified in Public Health (CPH) or equivalent credential
- Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis tools (SPSS, R, SAS)
- Experience with disease surveillance systems (e.g., NEDSS, ESSENCE)
- Valid Texas driver's license and willingness for fieldwork
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure during crisis situations
