Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies for City initiatives and emergency responses
- Act as primary media liaison, coordinating press conferences and interviews with city leadership
- Write and edit press releases, speeches, and digital content aligned with City messaging
- Manage social media channels to enhance public engagement and information dissemination
- Oversee production of digital newsletters and multimedia communications
- Monitor media coverage and provide strategic analysis to department heads
- Lead crisis communication protocols during public emergencies
- Maintain relationships with local, state, and national media outlets
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in government communications or public affairs
- Proven expertise in crisis communication and media relations
- Exceptional writing/editing skills with portfolio of published work
- Experience managing social media channels for public entities
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and CMS platforms
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
