Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with city codes and safety standards
- Review and approve engineering plans, specifications, and permit applications
- Document project progress and violations through detailed written reports
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and city officials to resolve technical issues
- Prepare and maintain accurate inspection records and project documentation
- Provide guidance to junior inspectors and construction staff
- Testify in legal proceedings regarding code violations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of construction inspection experience
- Valid California Inspector Certification (OSHPD, ICC, or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and safety protocols
- Proficiency with CAD software and inspection reporting tools
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder interactions
- Valid California Class C driver's license
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
