Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and performance tuning of the City's core server infrastructure and network environments.
- Implement and enforce robust security policies and compliance standards (NIST, FISMA) to protect sensitive citizen data.
- Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues to minimize downtime for critical government applications.
- Design and execute disaster recovery strategies, ensuring business continuity across all departments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute major IT initiatives, including cloud migration and system upgrades.
- Maintain detailed technical documentation and conduct regular system audits to ensure operational excellence.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior systems administrators and junior IT staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted.
- Certification such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or PMP is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in systems administration within a large-scale enterprise or government environment.
- Expert proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
- Strong working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, network protocols, and hardware lifecycle management.
- Must be a New York State resident or willing to relocate to New York City.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly.
