Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive land use plans and zoning regulations aligned with Kansas City's strategic vision
- Lead community outreach initiatives and public hearings to gather stakeholder input on development projects
- Analyze demographic data and environmental impact assessments for urban development proposals
- Coordinate with engineering and transportation departments to implement infrastructure improvements
- Prepare and present planning reports, zoning recommendations, and project proposals to city council
- Manage grant applications for federal and state funding opportunities
- Oversee compliance with Missouri Sunshine Law and open meeting regulations
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive urban planning experience in municipal government
- Valid Missouri Driver's License
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS preferred) and urban planning databases
- Strong knowledge of Missouri Sunshine Law and municipal governance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with public presentation experience
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects with competing deadlines
- Experience with community engagement and public hearing facilitation
