As a key architect of San Francisco's development landscape, you'll collaborate with mayoral leadership, community boards, and federal partners to implement the City's 2040 Comprehensive Plan. Your work will directly impact housing affordability, transportation equity, and climate resilience initiatives across diverse neighborhoods.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex urban planning projects including zoning amendments, environmental impact reports, and transit-oriented development initiatives
- Coordinate with 15+ city departments and state/federal agencies on infrastructure alignment and policy integration
- Develop data-driven recommendations using GIS analysis, demographic studies, and economic modeling
- Facilitate community engagement through public hearings, workshops, and digital platforms
- Oversee compliance with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and federal regulations
- Manage $5M+ project budgets and supervise multidisciplinary planning teams
- Present policy proposals to the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, or related field with 8+ years progressive experience
- California AICP certification required with expertise in transit-oriented development
- Proven track record leading large-scale municipal planning projects ($10M+ budgets)
- Advanced proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS), demographic analysis tools, and urban modeling platforms
- Expertise in CEQA compliance and California Housing Element law
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills with community engagement experience
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex policy into actionable implementation plans
- Portfolio showcasing 3+ completed urban development projects with measurable outcomes
