Responsibilities
- Monitor emergency/non-emergency calls and dispatch state troopers to incidents
- Operate multi-channel radio systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation in real-time
- Coordinate with local/county agencies during multi-jurisdictional emergencies
- Provide crisis intervention and critical information to callers and first responders
- Adhere to DPS protocols during high-stress situations and natural disasters
- Train on new technologies and communication systems as deployed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to pass rigorous background check and drug screening
- Minimum 35 WPM typing proficiency with 95% accuracy
- Experience in customer service or emergency dispatch preferred
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (6 PM - 6 AM) with rotating schedules
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
- Certification in NIMS/ICS within 6 months of hire
