Responsibilities
- Process Pension Inquiries: Review and process initial pension benefit requests and member inquiries with a high degree of accuracy.
- Member Records Management: Maintain and update retirement account records within the state’s secure database, ensuring all data is current and compliant.
- Retirement Calculations: Assist in the calculation of service credits and pension estimates for prospective and current retirees.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all administrative actions adhere to state regulations and internal policies regarding pension distribution.
- Customer Support: Provide remote assistance to retirees via email and phone, explaining complex pension terminology in clear, simple language.
- Data Entry & Verification: Perform routine data entry tasks to verify documentation and reconcile discrepancies in benefit calculations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the actuarial and finance departments to resolve benefit discrepancies.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Experience: No prior government experience required; entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical financial concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Work Ethic: Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage time effectively.
- Integrity: High level of confidentiality and ethical standards required when handling sensitive financial data.
