Responsibilities
- Administer state pension plan enrollment, distributions, and compliance for public sector employees
- Process retirement benefit applications with 100% accuracy and weekly payment coordination
- Conduct eligibility verifications and contribution calculations for defined benefit plans
- Generate quarterly retirement statements and regulatory compliance reports
- Collaborate with HR departments on retirement planning workshops for state employees
- Maintain confidential participant records in state-approved systems
- Research and resolve pension inquiries within 48-hour SLA
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension administration or retirement plan experience
- Proficiency with state retirement systems (CalPERS/CalSTRS knowledge preferred)
- FINRA Series 65/66 or state insurance license (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Advanced Excel skills with pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions
- Experience with government compliance (ERISA, IRS regulations)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Valid California driver's license for occasional travel to state facilities
