Responsibilities
- Manage daily pension fund operations including benefit calculations, distributions, and record maintenance
- Process weekly payroll for retirement plan participants with 100% accuracy
- Advise state employees on retirement planning options, contribution strategies, and vesting requirements
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and Illinois pension statutes
- Analyze fund performance data and prepare quarterly reports for stakeholders
- Coordinate with external investment managers and actuarial consultants
- Develop educational materials for retirement planning workshops
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension fund administration or retirement planning experience
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation preferred
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Benefitfocus, PeopleAdmin)
- Deep understanding of 401(a), 403(b), and public pension regulations
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial details
- Strong communication abilities for explaining complex retirement concepts
- U.S. citizenship and ability to pass federal background check
