Responsibilities
- Operate X-ray machines and metal detectors to screen passengers and carry-on luggage for prohibited items
- Conduct thorough physical searches of individuals and property when required by security protocols
- Monitor security checkpoints and respond to suspicious activity with appropriate escalation procedures
- Enforce TSA regulations while maintaining professional and courteous interactions with travelers
- Document security incidents and screening activities accurately in federal reporting systems
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport personnel during emergency situations
- Participate in continuous training to stay updated on evolving security threats and procedures
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Pass thorough background investigation and drug screening
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TSA Security Screening badge
- Basic computer literacy for operating screening equipment and reporting systems
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure during high-volume travel periods
