Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough screening of passengers, carry-on luggage, and checked baggage using advanced imaging technology and X-ray machines.
- Maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with the public, ensuring safety and security protocols are strictly followed.
- Operate Transportation Security Officer (TSO) equipment, including magnetometers, X-ray machines, and explosive trace detection systems.
- Identify and resolve security threats, including prohibited items and potential threats to aviation safety.
- Document all screening activities, incidents, and findings accurately in the security log.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient passenger flow and minimize wait times during peak travel periods.
- Adhere to all federal regulations, TSA directives, and agency policies regarding security screening procedures.
Qualifications
- United States Citizenship and the ability to pass a comprehensive background check, including a fingerprint-based criminal history check.
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
- Ability to pass a drug test and background investigation as a condition of employment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods, often in shifts that include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions to passengers of all backgrounds.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Secret security clearance.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with strict attention to detail.
