Responsibilities
- Screen passengers and carry-on luggage using advanced X-ray technology, metal detectors, and manual search techniques
- Identify and resolve security threats while maintaining efficient passenger flow
- Operate TSA equipment including EDS systems, trace detection devices, and CT scanners
- Communicate security protocols and procedures clearly to travelers
- Document security incidents and suspicious activities through standardized reporting
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport personnel during emergency situations
- Conduct random and targeted searches of passengers, property, and aircraft
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid state driver's license
- Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening
- Successfully complete TSA's security screening training program
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 70 pounds
- Strong communication skills in English (additional languages a plus)
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
