Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough security screenings of passengers, carry-on luggage, and cargo using advanced X-ray machines, metal detectors, and explosive detection systems
- Perform pat-down searches and baggage inspections to identify prohibited items and potential threats
- Operate security equipment and interpret screening results with precision
- Enforce TSA regulations and security protocols while maintaining professional demeanor during interactions
- Document security incidents and screening activities in accordance with federal reporting standards
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport personnel during emergency situations
- Provide clear instructions to passengers regarding security procedures and prohibited items
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to pass background investigation and drug screening
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 70 pounds
- Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Basic computer proficiency for operating screening equipment
- Must pass TSA's security screening assessment and training program
