Responsibilities
- Screen passengers and carry-on bags at security checkpoints using X-ray machines, metal detectors, and manual search techniques
- Enforce TSA security protocols and regulations to prevent prohibited items from entering secure areas
- Conduct thorough pat-down searches when required by standard operating procedures
- Verify travel documents and boarding passes to ensure passenger authenticity
- Operate advanced screening technology while maintaining high levels of situational awareness
- Communicate effectively with diverse passengers and provide clear security instructions
- Report suspicious activities, security breaches, or operational concerns to supervisors
- Maintain accurate screening logs and documentation of security incidents
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED
- Pass extensive background check, fingerprinting, and drug screening
- Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Valid U.S. driver's license with clean driving record
- No felony convictions or outstanding warrants
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Successfully complete TSA's security screening training program
