Responsibilities
- Screen passengers, carry-on baggage, and cargo using TSA-approved equipment (X-ray machines, metal detectors, etc.)
- Conduct physical pat-downs and bag searches when required by security protocols
- Monitor security checkpoints and detect suspicious items or behavior
- Provide clear instructions to passengers during screening procedures
- Document security incidents and maintain detailed logs
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport personnel during security alerts
- Adhere to TSA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and federal regulations
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency status
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening
- Valid driver's license (required for some positions)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn security systems
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure in high-stress environments
