Responsibilities
- Maintain and secure electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with HIPAA and federal regulations
- Analyze clinical documentation for completeness and accuracy in VistE systems
- Coordinate release of information requests while maintaining privacy protocols
- Support quality improvement initiatives through data analysis and reporting
- Train staff on health information management best practices
- Collaborate with clinical teams to resolve documentation discrepancies
- Implement coding standards for diagnoses and procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 2 years EHR management experience in healthcare
- Proficiency with VistE, Cerner, or similar federal health IT systems
- Knowledge of HIPAA, CMS, and VA privacy regulations
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
- US citizenship required
