Key Responsibilities
- Manage and process pension calculations and disbursements for state retirees with precision and adherence to state regulations.
- Communicate effectively with retirees, beneficiaries, and internal stakeholders regarding pension inquiries, status updates, and policy changes.
- Review and verify eligibility documents and ensure compliance with Michigan state pension laws and guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and secure records for all pension cases, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Collaborate with the finance and HR departments to resolve complex pension discrepancies and ensure accurate payroll integration.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training materials for pension-related processes and policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public sector benefits administration, pension management, or actuarial support.
- Strong knowledge of state government regulations and compliance standards is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel is essential) and pension administration software.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting while meeting strict deadlines.
