Responsibilities
- Conduct epidemiological investigations for reportable diseases and health emergencies
- Interview patients, contacts, and healthcare providers to establish transmission chains
- Collect, analyze, and report epidemiological data using public health surveillance systems
- Develop and implement outbreak control measures in collaboration with community partners
- Provide health education and risk communication to diverse populations
- Document investigations and prepare detailed reports for public health authorities
- Participate in emergency response drills and public health preparedness activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Nursing, Epidemiology, or related field
- Strong communication skills in English and Spanish (bilingual candidates strongly preferred)
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and during emergencies
- Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, SPSS, or Epi Info preferred)
- Certification in Incident Command System (ICS-100/200) within 6 months of hire
- Valid California Driver's License and reliable transportation
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work under pressure during public health crises
