Responsibilities
- Analyze complex state legislation and regulations to develop actionable policy recommendations for cabinet-level leadership.
- Lead cross-agency task forces on critical issues including healthcare, education, and economic development initiatives.
- Conduct quantitative/qualitative research using advanced statistical tools to evaluate policy impacts and outcomes.
- Prepare comprehensive policy briefs, executive summaries, and legislative testimony for the Governor's office and state legislature.
- Oversee implementation of new policies through stakeholder engagement with local governments, nonprofits, and private sector partners.
- Monitor emerging trends in federal and state governance to ensure New York remains a national policy innovation leader.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Economics, or related field (JD or PhD preferred).
- Minimum 5 years progressive experience in state/federal policy analysis, legislative affairs, or public sector consulting.
- Expertise in quantitative research methodologies including regression analysis and program evaluation.
- Proven track record of developing evidence-based policy solutions with measurable community impact.
- Proficiency in policy development software (e.g., PolicyMap, SAS) and data visualization tools.
- Deep knowledge of New York State government structure, legislative processes, and regulatory frameworks.
