Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimize electronic health record systems (EHR) in compliance with VA and HIPAA regulations
- Lead data quality initiatives and audit medical documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Implement health information privacy policies and conduct staff training on data security protocols
- Collaborate with clinical teams to resolve information system issues and improve workflows
- Manage health information lifecycle from creation to secure destruction according to federal standards
- Analyze healthcare data trends to support strategic decision-making and reporting requirements
- Serve as liaison between IT and healthcare departments for system implementations and upgrades
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in healthcare data management or EHR systems
- Expertise in HIPAA compliance and healthcare privacy regulations
- Proficient with EHR systems (e.g., Cerner, Epic) and health information standards
- Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive health information with confidentiality
- Federal background investigation eligibility required
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in data quality processes
