Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) in accordance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Oversee health information coding, indexing, and quality assurance processes
- Implement health data privacy and security protocols for sensitive veteran information
- Coordinate with clinical departments to ensure accurate documentation standards
- Analyze health data trends to support quality improvement initiatives
- Train staff on health information systems and regulatory compliance
- Conduct audits and prepare reports for federal compliance reviews
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years health information management experience in a federal setting
- Expertise in EHR systems (e.g., VistA, Epic)
- Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and VA privacy regulations
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
- Experience with health data analytics preferred
