Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain comprehensive electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA and federal regulations
- Oversee health data integrity, ensuring accurate documentation and coding for veteran care services
- Coordinate with clinical teams to optimize health information workflows and documentation processes
- Implement and monitor information security protocols for sensitive veteran health data
- Train staff on health information systems and documentation best practices
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives for health information management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required; CPHIMS preferred
- Minimum 3 years' experience with EHR systems in healthcare environments
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and federal health information regulations
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding systems
- Experience with VA-specific health information systems is highly desirable
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
