Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records in compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Analyze clinical documentation to ensure coding accuracy and reimbursement integrity
- Implement data quality improvement initiatives for veteran health records
- Coordinate health information exchange with external providers
- Train staff on health information systems and privacy protocols
- Conduct audits for regulatory compliance and data security
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- 3+ years of health information management experience
- Expertise in EHR systems (Epic/Cerner preferred)
- Knowledge of HIPAA, VA directives, and CMS regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA background clearance
