Responsibilities
- Maintain and secure electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and federal health information regulations
- Analyze health data to support clinical decision-makingCoordinate release of information requests while maintaining privacy standards
- Implement health information technology upgrades and system migrations
- Train staff on health information management best practices
- Conduct audits and quality assurance reviews
- Collaborate with IT and clinical departments on system integration
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years of EHR system management experience
- Expert knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare privacy regulations
- Experience with VA VistA or similar federal health IT systems preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
