Responsibilities
- Maintain and secure electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with VA and federal regulations
- Coordinate medical record retrieval for clinical teams and external providers within strict timeframes
- Perform quality assurance audits on documentation completeness and accuracy
- Train staff on EHR protocols and privacy protection standards
- Manage release of information requests following HIPAA guidelines
- Collaborate with IT department on system upgrades and troubleshooting
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in healthcare documentation management
- Proficiency with Epic EHR systems or comparable platforms
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA, VA directives, and medical record standards
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks in high-volume environment
