Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive benefits counseling and enrollment assistance to veterans and their families
- Coordinate healthcare services across VA medical facilities and community partners
- Process complex claims for disability compensation, education benefits, and vocational rehabilitation
- Conduct outreach programs to underserved veteran populations in Alameda County
- Maintain accurate case records using VA's electronic health record systems
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address veteran-specific needs
- Stay updated on federal regulations affecting veteran benefits and healthcare
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in veteran services or federal benefits administration
- Proficiency with VA-specific software systems (Vista, VBA) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of federal veteran benefits programs (GI Bill, VA Healthcare, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills with diverse populations
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and empathy
- Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation for community outreach
- U.S. citizenship required for federal employment
