Responsibilities
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems and ensure HIPAA/FERPA compliance for veteran data
- Coordinate health information exchange between VA facilities and external providers
- Implement data integrity protocols for clinical documentation and coding accuracy
- Train staff on health information management best practices and VA-specific systems
- Conduct audits and quality reviews of health information workflows
- Collaborate with IT and clinical teams on system upgrades and process improvements
- Support VA's transition to next-generation health information technologies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in healthcare data management
- Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., VistA, Epic, Cerner)
- Knowledge of federal healthcare regulations (VA directives, HIPAA, 21st Century Cures Act)
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA background clearance
- Demonstrated experience with data analytics and reporting tools
