Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain comprehensive electronic health records (EHR) in accordance with VA standards
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and data security protocols for all veteran health information
- Coordinate health information exchange with external providers and federal agencies
- Implement and optimize health information systems for clinical workflow efficiency
- Conduct regular audits of health information documentation and coding accuracy
- Train clinical staff on health information management best practices
- Collaborate with IT department on system upgrades and data migration projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years health information management experience in clinical setting
- Proficiency in EHR systems (Epic preferred)
- Knowledge of HIPAA, VA policies, and healthcare data standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- U.S. citizenship required for federal position
