Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Oversee health information privacy and security protocols for 50+ healthcare providers
- Conduct audits and implement corrective actions for medical record documentation
- Train staff on health information management best practices and new technologies
- Coordinate with IT teams to optimize EHR functionality and data integrity
- Ensure proper coding and classification of diagnoses and procedures
- Develop policies for health information retention and destruction
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required (AHIMA)
- 3+ years experience in healthcare information management
- Expertise in HIPAA compliance and health information privacy regulations
- Proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., Cerner, Epic)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA background clearance
- U.S. citizenship required
