Responsibilities
- Oversee electronic health record (EHR) systems and data integrity for 5,000+ veteran patient records
- Implement HIPAA-compliant data governance protocols and audit trails
- Train 15+ clinical staff on health information management best practices
- Coordinate with IT security teams to protect sensitive veteran health data
- Lead quarterly data quality improvement initiatives
- Manage health information workflow optimization projects
- Stay current with federal healthcare regulations (VA Handbook 6500)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- 3+ years' experience with EHR systems (Epic/Cerner preferred)
- Federal background investigation clearance eligibility
- Expert knowledge of HIPAA and VA data privacy regulations
- Project management certification (PMP) or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in SQL and data analytics tools
