Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA and VA policies
- Oversee data integrity and security protocols for sensitive veteran information
- Coordinate health information exchange with external providers and federal agencies
- Implement and audit medical coding practices for accurate reimbursement
- Train staff on health information management best practices
- Lead system upgrades and process improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with federal health information regulations (HIPAA, HITECH)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years EHR system management experience
- Proficiency in medical coding (ICD-10, CPT)
- Federal background clearance eligibility
- Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare data privacy laws
- Experience with VA VistA EHR system preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
