Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize electronic health record systems (VistA) to ensure data integrity and accessibility
- Oversee HIPAA compliance and information security protocols across all veteran health records
- Coordinate system upgrades and integration with federal healthcare initiatives
- Train staff on health information management best practices and new technologies
- Conduct audits and implement corrective actions for data quality issues
- Collaborate with IT and clinical teams to streamline health information workflows
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, IT, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 3+ years experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems, preferably VistA
- Certified Health Information Administrator (CHIA) or RHIA required
- Expert knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and federal health IT regulations
- Proficiency in SQL, data analysis, and healthcare data standards
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
