Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Oversee data integrity, privacy protocols, and cybersecurity measures for sensitive veteran health information
- Coordinate health information workflows across clinical departments to optimize patient care delivery
- Conduct audits and implement improvements to health information management processes
- Train staff on health information systems and regulatory compliance standards
- Collaborate with IT teams on system upgrades and data migration projects
- Generate reports for leadership on health information utilization and performance metrics
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification through AHIMA (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in health information management within a healthcare setting
- Expert knowledge of HIPAA, VA health data standards, and federal information security protocols
- Proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., VistA, Epic) and health data analytics tools
- Strong project management skills with ability to lead cross-functional initiatives
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain federal background clearance
