Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA and VA privacy regulations
- Oversee health information workflow processes to ensure data integrity and accessibility
- Implement and monitor health information security protocols for sensitive veteran data
- Train staff on health information systems and compliance procedures
- Conduct audits to verify documentation accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with IT and clinical teams to optimize health information systems
- Develop policies and procedures for health information management
- Stay current on federal healthcare regulations and industry best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
- RHIA or RHIT certification required (AHIMA credentialed)
- Minimum 3 years experience with EHR systems in healthcare setting
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare privacy regulations
- Experience with federal healthcare compliance requirements (VA, CMS)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA background clearance
