Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health record systems in compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Implement and audit data security protocols for sensitive veteran health information
- Coordinate with clinical teams to ensure accurate documentation and coding practices
- Develop training materials for staff on health information management best practices
- Conduct regular audits to ensure regulatory compliance and data integrity
- Collaborate with IT teams on system upgrades and interoperability initiatives
- Generate reports on health data metrics for leadership decision-making
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required; CPHIMS preferred
- Minimum 3 years experience with electronic health record systems (EHR)
- Knowledge of HIPAA, VA directives, and healthcare data standards
- Proficiency in database management and health data analytics
- Experience with VA VistA or similar federal health IT systems
- Strong project management and stakeholder communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 2 federal background clearance
